Guest Dream Girl Spotlights

June 06, 2008

Introducing . . .

our Guest Dream Girl for the month of June, Angelia Larkin!
Angelialarkin_2

We are thrilled to be having her join us this month. Take a look at her inspiring gallery and as always. . . I've asked her to answer some questions so we can all get to know her better.

1. What is your full name?  Angelia Larkin (the "i" is silent)

2. Who do you love? My husband, my children, my life.

3. How long have you been digi scrapping? A little over a year.

4. Where does your inspiration come from? Everywhere!  My kids, clothing, home decorating items, magazines of all types, junk mail, galleries, web sites...the inspiration is endless.

5. What do you listen to while scrapping? My children laughing, playing, & screaming is enough noise for me.

6. What is one scrap item you could not live without?  I'm really into stitches & staples right now.  I know that's more than one, but they both "hold" things down.

7. How long does it take you to complete a scrapbook page? It really depends on the photo I am scrapping & the overall mood/feel I want the page to have.  But on average, 1 - 2 hours.

8. What are your favorite moments/subjects to scrap?  My children.  I love the everyday stuff that makes them who they are.  I want them to look back & see everything...the little stuff, the big stuff, the happy stuff, the sad stuff.

9. What are your other hobbies or interests? I love home decorating & working in my flower gardens.  I also love photography, & am trying to learn the tricks of the trade.  Spending time outdoors with my family, biking & swimming, is very enjoyable as well.

10. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?  Any of the Hawaiian Islands...beachfront, of course.  Love it there!

11. What super-power would you most like to have and why? Hmmm, a few come to mind, but I'm going with the ability to be invisible, so I can see what's going on all the time.

12. What is the last book that you read?  Does my camera manual count!?!

13. What famous person would you like to meet?  There are a few & the reasons vary, but I'm going to say the President of the United States.

14. What's something that you should throw away, but can't. Explain.  Well, it depends on who you ask.  According to me, nothing!  According to my husband, all of the containers overflowing with our kids school & art work.  (What is he thinking...I can't part with that)!

15. Complete the statement, "I recommend. . ." not taking life to seriously, remember to laugh & have fun along the way!

16. What are your favorite TV shows?  Men in Trees, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Desperate Housewives, So You Think You Can Dance, Amazing Race.

17. Where is your favorite place to shop?  Target!  They have something for everyone, & it's all good.

18. What helps to get you through each day?  My family, & maybe a piece of dark chocolate or two.

19. What is your motto? I don't know if it's really a motto, but I just saw this the other day & really liked it..."When you are content to be simply yourself & don't compare or compete, everybody will respect you".  I think this is a great message for our children.

20. What has been your greatest scrapping moment?  This!!!  And the first time one of my layouts was picked up for publication in Digital Scrapbooking Magazine.  Thanks Little Dreamer Designs!

And, I've just got to leave you with some scrapping inspiration.  Our Dream Girls took an opportunity to lift some of Angie's pages and here they are!

April 02, 2008

She's Our Guest. . .

I'd like to introduce to you our Guest Dream Girl for the month of April, Nicole LeBlanc.
Nicoleleblanc

Nicole is fairly new to digital scrapping, but she definitely grabbed our attention by her participation in the Little Dreamer Blog Challenges and Gallery.  She also has an amazing gallery too, find it here!  I had Nicole answer some questions so that we can get to know her better, so read on!
1. What is your full name? Nicole LeBlanc
2. Who do you love? I love my husband and two daughters very much!
3. How long have you been digi scrapping? I created my first digital layout on October 6, 2007 and have been addicted ever since!
4. Where does your inspiration come from? Several places! 1. My children 2.Member Galleries 3. Magazines/Idea Books
5. What do you listen to while scrapping? When I'm at home alone scrapping I listen to Robbie Seay Band's Give Yourself Away. When I'm up late at night scrapping I'm listening to my DH snoring next to me and the hum of my laptop :-)
6. What is one scrap item you could not live without? It would have to be patterned paper.
7. How long does it take you to complete a scrapbook page? That depends...when I'm using a template is usually only takes an hour or so, if not it can take anywhere from 3-4 hours!
8. What are your favorite moments/subjects to scrap? It's got to be my children. I've realized lately that I love the layouts with photos of them not posing...I love seeing them enjoying life and the natural expressions on their faces.
9. What are your other hobbies or interests? My friends call me a hobbyist. I have entirely too many! I love photography, volunteering at my daughter's school, sewing, playing tennis every once in a while and stationery design. I create and sell children's stationery online...I don't really call it a business b/c I don't make that much money, but it's fun and another creative outlet for me.
10. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be? Right on the beach! I love the relaxing sound of the ocean and watching my girls playing in the water!
11. What super-power would you most like to have and why? I would love to have the super power of being in two places at the same time. One would be out making memories with my family and the other would be on the laptop creating digital scrapbook pages of the memories.
12. What is the last book that you read? He Speaks to Me by Priscilla Shirer
13. What famous person would you like to meet? This was a hard one for me. Honestly, I think some of the most genuine and interesting people who are doing great things in our world are not always noticed...Still thinking on this one.
14. What's something that you should throw away, but can't. My size 8 jeans! I'm determined to lose weight and get back in them!!!
15. Complete the statement, "I recommend. . ." having a designated weekly game night with your family. It's such a bonding experience and the children look forward to it!
16. What are your favorite TV shows? My hubby and I are reality TV junkies! Right now we are enjoying American Idol and Big Brother.
17. Where is your favorite place to shop? Nordstroms
18. What helps to get you through each day? Lately it's been sweet tea...strange, but I need it!
19. What is your motto? I've had this quote on my blog for a while and I love it. "There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart...pursue those."
20. What has been your greatest scrapping moment? This is it! Little Dreamer Designs is one of the most creative and friendly sites. The fact that they noticed me is the highlight of my digital journey so far!

Well. . . to say the least, we are thrilled to have Nicole as our Guest this month!  Take a look at the lifts our Dream Team completed as our official 'Welcome!'

Introducing Our March Guest Dream Girl!

We're thrilled to have Michelle Filo joining us this month as our Guest Dream Girl!  She has an amazing style to her pages and she also has several gorgeous hybrid projects in her gallery!  Click on her name to view her gallery!
Michellefilo

I asked Michelle to answer some questions so we could all get to know her a bit better and this is what she had to say. . .

1. What is your full name?
Michelle Biancardi de Oliveira Filó

2. Who do you love?
Certainly my hubby and kids.

3. How long have you been digi scrapping?
About a year, give or take.

4. Where does your inspiration come from?
My kids (what they say and do and how cute they are), magazines and the amazing scrapping community, so much talent out there!

5. What do you listen to while scrapping?
I have a hard time concentrating if there is anything on the TV or with music on, so I prefer “the sound of silence” ;) No wonder I can only scrap after midnight!

6. What is one scrap item you could not live without?
I need something to tie things down: staples, stitches, buttons or tapes.

7. How long does it take you to complete a scrapbook page?
Totally depends on the inspiration, anything from 30 min to six hours, an average of three hours :)

8. What are your favorite moments/subjects to scrap?
Certainly my boys, everyday little things, milestones.

9. What are your other hobbies or interests?
Mmm this will totally give me out as a geek :) I love computer games like World of Warcraft and Sci-fi like Heroes and Battlestar Galactica.

10. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
Japan! I have this crazy fascination with Japan since I was a little girl, I am yet to visit the place, but at least I live closer now :)

11. What super-power would you most like to have and why?
To be able to fly. I don’t know how practical that would be since I am terrified of heights but maybe if I could fly I wouldn’t be scared? LOL I don’t know. But it would be great to not have to worry about falling down and to be able to ditch traffic to get to places :)

12. What is the last book that you read?
Oh... “What to expect when you are expecting” LOL or maybe it was supernany? I didn’t really read that one I think. I haven’t made the time to read since I had kids :)

13. What famous person would you like to meet?
I am sure there are many but I can’t think of any :)

14. What's something that you should throw away, but can't?
A couple of comic books I still have back in Brazil. I am just scared I will regret parting with it. I also am glad I didn't get rid of my paper scrapping supplies when I felt the urge to do so. I certainly see myself using it in the future :)

15. Complete the statement, "I recommend. . ."
Going to Cirque du Soleil, it is a great show and so entertaining! Sometimes even little kids are able to sit quietly to watch the performances.

16. What are your favorite TV shows?
Oh, it changes constantly, at the moment I would say House, Grey’s Anatomy and Heroes. I am looking forward to get back to watching LOST, but not until they finish it! I can’t handle the suspense LOL

17. Where is your favorite place to shop?
Love Target for everything, and here we have Lincraft but I haven’t been there in a while, might start going again now that I started playing with hybrid.

18. What helps to get you through each day?
Oh, hubby is so great at making me feel recognized and when everyone is happy at home, it makes me happy too. The thought of scrapping at the end of the day and a little caffeine helps too ;)

19. What is your motto?
It is better to try and fail than to never have tried at all.

20. What has been your greatest scrapping moment?
Oh, being a guest at LDD is certainly a great moment for me, getting published in the Digital Scrapbooking Magazine was a big moment too, but I have to say having quickpages designed by myself up in the stores certainly was the highlight thus far! I am looking forward and hoping for more opportunities like this.

And, our Dream Girls lifted a few of Michelle's pages, if you'd like to join us and add yours to the challenge gallery for the month of March, you may win a Gift Certificate to the Little Dreamer Shoppe!  Make sure you put 'Guest Dream Girl Lift' somewhere in your credits!

February 02, 2008

Be our Guest. . .

Join me in welcoming our first Guest Dream Girl at Little Dreamer:  Jacki Steinkamp!
Pic_ldd_2Jacki will be joining us for the month of February and her gallery is full of color and inspiration, so be sure to check it out!  One thing that I love about Jacki's pages is her ability to use multiple photos on one page.  She really tells the whole story with her pages!  I thought that it would be fun for us to get to know her better, so I asked her a few questions.
1. What is your full name? Jacqueline Steinkamp but everyone knows me by Jacki
2. Who do you love? My hubby of 17 yrs., Karl, and my 3 kiddos – Josiah, Karissa, and Mikaela. I also have lots of sweet friends who I really love and make my life that much richer.
3. How long have you been digi scrapping? Last year in May I had unexpected surgery and found myself with lots of time on my hands. I had learned how to digi scrap about a year before but it didn’t all make sense until I put some time into it.
4. Where does your inspiration come from? Oh, I love looking at other peoples’ work. Such amazingly talented people out there! It never fails to surprise me to see the new ways of doing things and the clever designing popping up all over the place.
5. What do you listen to while scrapping? Nothing. I love the quiet too much!
6. What is one scrap item you could not live without? Michelle’s little date tags. I bought the whole kit (Lighter Shades of Pale) just for those perfectly versatile tags!
7. How long does it take you to complete a scrapbook page? Since I work full-time I try to be economical time-wise – LO’s take anywhere from 20 min. to 2 hrs. if it’s for a challenge. If I use a template it goes much more quickly.
8. What are your favorite moments/subjects to scrap? I’ve never paper scrapped and my kids are a bit older (12, 10, 7) so I’m trying to play catch-up on major events (holidays, birthdays, accomplishments) and scrap some of my favorite scanned photos of them. Plus I’m trying to keep up with the here and now and capture moments that really define them at this age. I wish I would’ve had a digital camera and started scrapping 12 years ago. I’m so hooked!
9. What are your other hobbies or interests? Even though I have lots to learn, I really enjoy photography. My family enjoys travelling and seeing new places too. Oh, and I collect picture frames. Guess that all fits together, huh?
10. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be? Wow - I’ve lived outside the US most my life so that’s a rather fun question! I think I’d pick Australia. It’s beautiful and the people are gorgeous!
11. What super-power would you most like to have and why? Hmm, invisibility. I’d love to see what my kids are up to when I’m not around.
12. What is the last book that you read? “The Grand Weaver” by Ravi Zacharias
13. What famous person would you like to meet? Condelezza Rice. I’d love to hear about the people she’s met, the places she’s been, the conversations she’s had. Just imagine!
14. What's something that you should throw away, but can't. Explain. Magazines. Oh, my – the ones I love are often expensive or hard to come by where I live so I just can’t bear to throw them out even though they’re tattered and I’ve read them through dozens of times. Goodness – when I write that it sounds so pathetic!
15. Complete the statement, "I recommend. . ." Watching the movie “Amazing Grace.” It’s so powerful and makes you want to go out and make a difference in the world. If I could add another thing it’d be this great book on parenting I just read called “Say Goodbye to Whining, Complaining and Bad Attitudes in You and Your Kids” by Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller. Now if I could just do what the book recommends I’d be in good shape!
16. What are your favorite TV shows? We don’t have TV, but we do try to find DVD’s of Numbers, Prison Break, Amazing Race and Survivor. My choices are obviously influenced by my hubby.
17. Where is your favorite place to shop? Anywhere in the US! Oh, give me Target and Walmart any day. I love the choices, the variety, the prices. You should see my list when we come for the summer – it’s enormous!
18. What helps to get you through each day? Knowing what I do matters. That investing in my family and the lives of the kids at school pays off in the long run. We work in a pretty intense environment and it’s easy to become fatigued. Then out-of-the-blue a former student will come by or drop a line and say how much s/he loved it here and how much s/he appreciated being listened to or helped in some way and I think, ‘yep, I can do this a little longer.’
19. What is your motto? Take a step back and gain perspective.
20. What has been your greatest scrapping moment? This and being asked by Janet Phillips to be on her CT – both a HUGE thrill!

Our Dream Girls took some inspiration from Jacki's gallery to create some fabulous lifts!  So now it's time to show them off. . .
