Join me in welcoming our first Guest Dream Girl at Little Dreamer: Jacki Steinkamp!
Jacki will be joining us for the month of February and her gallery is full of color and inspiration, so be sure to check it out! One thing that I love about Jacki's pages is her ability to use multiple photos on one page. She really tells the whole story with her pages! I thought that it would be fun for us to get to know her better, so I asked her a few questions.
1. What is your full name? Jacqueline Steinkamp but everyone knows me by Jacki
2. Who do you love? My hubby of 17 yrs., Karl, and my 3 kiddos – Josiah, Karissa, and Mikaela. I also have lots of sweet friends who I really love and make my life that much richer.
3. How long have you been digi scrapping? Last year in May I had unexpected surgery and found myself with lots of time on my hands. I had learned how to digi scrap about a year before but it didn’t all make sense until I put some time into it.
4. Where does your inspiration come from? Oh, I love looking at other peoples’ work. Such amazingly talented people out there! It never fails to surprise me to see the new ways of doing things and the clever designing popping up all over the place.
5. What do you listen to while scrapping? Nothing. I love the quiet too much!
6. What is one scrap item you could not live without? Michelle’s little date tags. I bought the whole kit (Lighter Shades of Pale) just for those perfectly versatile tags!
7. How long does it take you to complete a scrapbook page? Since I work full-time I try to be economical time-wise – LO’s take anywhere from 20 min. to 2 hrs. if it’s for a challenge. If I use a template it goes much more quickly.
8. What are your favorite moments/subjects to scrap? I’ve never paper scrapped and my kids are a bit older (12, 10, 7) so I’m trying to play catch-up on major events (holidays, birthdays, accomplishments) and scrap some of my favorite scanned photos of them. Plus I’m trying to keep up with the here and now and capture moments that really define them at this age. I wish I would’ve had a digital camera and started scrapping 12 years ago. I’m so hooked!
9. What are your other hobbies or interests? Even though I have lots to learn, I really enjoy photography. My family enjoys travelling and seeing new places too. Oh, and I collect picture frames. Guess that all fits together, huh?
10. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be? Wow - I’ve lived outside the US most my life so that’s a rather fun question! I think I’d pick Australia. It’s beautiful and the people are gorgeous!
11. What super-power would you most like to have and why? Hmm, invisibility. I’d love to see what my kids are up to when I’m not around.
12. What is the last book that you read? “The Grand Weaver” by Ravi Zacharias
13. What famous person would you like to meet? Condelezza Rice. I’d love to hear about the people she’s met, the places she’s been, the conversations she’s had. Just imagine!
14. What's something that you should throw away, but can't. Explain. Magazines. Oh, my – the ones I love are often expensive or hard to come by where I live so I just can’t bear to throw them out even though they’re tattered and I’ve read them through dozens of times. Goodness – when I write that it sounds so pathetic!
15. Complete the statement, "I recommend. . ." Watching the movie “Amazing Grace.” It’s so powerful and makes you want to go out and make a difference in the world. If I could add another thing it’d be this great book on parenting I just read called “Say Goodbye to Whining, Complaining and Bad Attitudes in You and Your Kids” by Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller. Now if I could just do what the book recommends I’d be in good shape!
16. What are your favorite TV shows? We don’t have TV, but we do try to find DVD’s of Numbers, Prison Break, Amazing Race and Survivor. My choices are obviously influenced by my hubby.
17. Where is your favorite place to shop? Anywhere in the US! Oh, give me Target and Walmart any day. I love the choices, the variety, the prices. You should see my list when we come for the summer – it’s enormous!
18. What helps to get you through each day? Knowing what I do matters. That investing in my family and the lives of the kids at school pays off in the long run. We work in a pretty intense environment and it’s easy to become fatigued. Then out-of-the-blue a former student will come by or drop a line and say how much s/he loved it here and how much s/he appreciated being listened to or helped in some way and I think, ‘yep, I can do this a little longer.’
19. What is your motto? Take a step back and gain perspective.
20. What has been your greatest scrapping moment? This and being asked by Janet Phillips to be on her CT – both a HUGE thrill!
